HANNOVER MESSE Worldwide Events:

CeMAT INDIA — International Trade Fair for Logistics, from 10 to 13 December 2008 in Bangalore
New topics: “Fresh Logistics” and “Contract Logistics”
Indian logistics market expected to reach €140 billion by 2015

Bangalore/Hannover

The organizers at Hannover-based Deutsche Messe are anticipating 180 exhibitors at this year’s CeMAT INDIA — the International Trade Fair for Intralogistics. And the climate for the upcoming CeMAT INDIA is an excellent one: according to the German Office for Foreign Trade, the Indian logistics market is experiencing annual growth rates of 20 to 30 percent. By 2015 the market is expected reach a total sales volume of 140 billion euros.

CeMAT INDIA ran for the first time in December 2007 and was an instant success. Over 150 exhibitors from across the globe presented their products and services there. The primary exhibits involved forklifts and other industrial trucks, plus lifting and hoisting equipment, cranes, conveyor systems, warehousing systems and software.

This year two new topics have been added: “Fresh Logistics” and “Contract Logistics”, which are also the names of the corresponding special displays at CeMAT INDIA. The establishment of unbroken cold chains is considered a highly lucrative market in India, since up to now the country has lacked the appropriate road and railway vehicles as well as transship-ment technology and warehouses to cope with easily perishable goods.

The other new topic involves contract logistics. Due to India’s deficient infrastructure, logistics costs are very high in comparison with other countries, accounting for between 12 and 14 percent of the country’s gross domestic product. In recent years Indian managers have become much more aware of the importance of having a highly functional logistics system for entrepreneurial competitiveness. Corporate logistics are increasingly being outsourced to “third-party logistics” providers, who take on not only the transport tasks, but also offer services like packaging, labeling, invoicing and tracking. These logistics service providers will be represented at the “Contract Logistics” group pavilion.

“We plan to continually expand CeMAT INDIA due to the considerable potential which the Indian logistics market holds for our exhibiters. By integrating these new topics, we are also sending a message: Many logistics service providers are already active on the Indian market, and both established entrepreneurs as well as newcomers preparing to enter the Indian market will find a superb platform in CeMAT INDIA,” declares Wolfgang Lenarz, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Messe with responsibility for exhibitions abroad.

CeMAT India takes place at the new Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC), which is considered India’s most technically advanced venue for staging events. The event will run congruently with several other events in Bangalore: INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION INDIA — the International Trade Fair for Process and Production Automation and Industrial Building Automation as well as MDA INDIA — the International Trade Fair for Motion, Drive and Automation. And, for the first time ever, Deutsche Messe is teaming up with its subsidiary Hannover Milano Fairs India to organize the Energy INDIA show, devoted to the latest energy technologies. The tried-and-tested concept of offering several tradeshows under the same roof offers trade visitors an opportunity to find out about all the latest automation themes in a cross-industry, “one-stop shop”.
